Diagnosis - Double Ear infection

Ella finally had a fever last night so we took her to the Dr. She has a DOUBLE ear infection!! She has never complained. The only way we knew she was sick at all was by the steady stream of snot that has been flowing. But Dr.'s don't dispense med's for kids until they get a FEVER! I was actually relieved that she finally had one. She has been fighting sinus issues for over a week now! I just hate that it had to get to this point before they would give her anything. I understand why Dr's do it that way, but that doesn't mean I like it.

Here's a sign there's a sick little girl in the house.

In other news: Our commitment to p90x is going strong. We are in week 7 (out of 12), and tonight was legs and back.

and Finally.... a great new recipe idea! Steak-n-sacks! If you love Pita Cafe, you'll love these!!
1. Have the butcher at the grocery store, shred some flank steak for you. This will probably sound totally ignorant, but I always thought they charged you extra to cut up meat for you. They don't and it saves a ton of time!!
2. Chop up some onion & bell pepper (I used green & red).
3. Throw in some minced garlic, we love garlic so I added about 2 tbl.
4. Add Greek seasoning, salt and pepper, to taste. (Not too much salt though! We are watching our sodium remember!)
5. Saute on Medium, so that the veggies can get soft, until meat is done.
From 7-10-09

6. Take a whole wheat pita, cut the top off and stick it in the microwave for about 20 secs. Long enough to make it soft enough to open, but not too long or they will get tough.
7. Jason likes a little light miracle whip, lettuce, tomatoes, & fat free mozzarella on his.
I like lettuce, fat free mozzarella, and Naturally fresh lite ranch on mine!! MMMMmmm...delicious! Naturally fresh dressings are in the produce section of the grocery store, kept cool.

P90X

OK - so I started P90x on Wednesday of last week. It is a 90 day extreme workout
program with an accompanying meal plan. It was mid-week and you usually don't
start things like this mid week because you want to schedule your off day for the
weekend (Saturday for us). "Off Day," just means no workout, the meal plan still
applies. But I was anxious to go ahead and
get started.
Week 1
Day 1 for me was Yoga X
Day 2 - Legs & Back, Ab Ripper X
Day 3 - Kenpo X
Day 4 - Saturday (our off day)
Week 2
Day 5 - Chest & Back, Ab Ripper X - This is the night I pulled a muscle in my chest,
under my left arm. (From all the pull-up and push ups)
Day 6 - Plyometrics (Jump training) - only did about 25 minutes, had to stop because
of pain.
Day 7 - Shoulders & Arms , Ab Ripper X - Tried to rest and heal, still did Ab ripper X.
Which brings us to tonight, which will be Yoga X

Sunday night for Chest Back & Arms, your supposed to do as many reps at your maximum weight
(Jason lifts his body weight on the pull ups but I have to do Lat pull down on a
machine, you can also use bands) until you can't go anymore, then you switch to
different kinds of push ups. You switch back and forth for an hour. That's when I
pulled a muscle. I'm definitely not used to that much strenuous exercise on my arms!
The Pictures are from that night.

Also, from that night we made a Power 90 favorite for dinner. It's super simple and
delicious, whether you exercising or not. It's just a healthy meal, that even kids will love.
If you are actually doing P90x, you can only have 1 carb a day in the first phase.
So save up and you can have 2 of these!

Pita Pizza's
1. Preheat oven to 350
2. Dice up some chicken breast and cook on the stove with whatever seasonings you like.
We like pepper & garlic powder. We try to stay away from salt. I use nonstick pans so I
don't even add any oil, but If you must, try to only use E.V.O.O.
3. Take one whole grain pita and slice around the edge so that you can separate into two
halves. (see picture)
4. Spray a baking sheet with pan and place the pita halves in the oven for 60 seconds,
just to get them crisp.
5. Add 1/4 cup of Pizza Sauce to each (we use Ragu).
6. Add any vegetable you like! That night we used onions, mushrooms, & tomatoes.
7. Sprinkle with fat free or reduced fat cheese.
8. Bake for 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
