Many of you may know, but my Dad is leaving in two weeks for his 2nd tour in Iraq. This time he will only be gone for 10 months, which is shorter than last time, but still, it's quite a sacrifice. Last time he was able to come home for Christmas, but I feel that more than likely that won't be the case this time. All of his grandchildren are still babies, and its very likely that they won't know him, when he gets home. He will be stationed in Baghdad, in a "green zone," which he says is a fairly safe place. Still, let's remember our troops and please say a special prayer for my Dad, his unit, and their families, as they prepare for the coming year.

I will say a prayer for your family and your dad. The last two times Derek has deployed the kids were small and I must say that it took a week or so but it didn't take too long and they were back full swing with him. Don't worry - the same will happen with your dad. If you need anyone to chat with about "military" things - feel free to contact me. I have a pretty good ear!
